The Department of Development Studies of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized an enriching field trip to the Rural Development Academy (RDA) in Bogura for the esteemed students enrolled in the MSS program in Development Studies from March 3 to March 7, 2024.
The students were accompanied by the honorable Chairman of Development Studies, Wing Commander MD Mahamudul Hasan, PSC, PhD, along with respected faculty members Assistant Professor MD Zahidur Rahman, Lecturer SM Nazmus Sakib, and Lecturer Mahira nazniba Rodoshee.
In this field trip, 36 students had the invaluable opportunity to visit two projects: “the Integrated Water Management Project “and “the Poverty-Free Village”. Following their visits to these projects, the students ventured into the field to collect data and analyze it. Moreover, officials from RDA guided the students on how their projects operate and organized a detailed workshop to further elaborate on these matters. Additionally, the students were taken to various project sites for further exploration.
This experiential field trip provided with a profound immersion into the complex interaction factors of rural life, allowing students to gain firsthand insights into the challenges and prospects inherent in community development endeavors. From witnessing sustainable agriculture initiatives to engaging with microfinance programs, each experience has broadened students’ understanding and fueled passion for positive changes. The interactions with the committed staff and experts at RDA didn't just help students in their studies, but also made them feel more responsible for making society fairer.
Reflecting on the Illuminating experiences, the department expresses deep gratitude for the warm hospitality and invaluable wisdom extended by the RDA community during our visit. Their dedication to rural development has left an indelible impression on us, inspiring us to return with renewed energy and determination.
