The Department of Public Administration organized a field visit for BPA 2021 (6th semester, 3rd year) at Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) from 19-22 February 20214. The general objective of this training course is to acquaint the participants with modern tools, techniques, and methods in conducting the research study, especially in identifying various socioeconomic problems, collecting required data, processing, and analyzing data through PRA tools, and report writing and presentation. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
(1) To fulfill the requirement of the course ‘PA 3628: Quantitative Research Methodology’.
(2) To enable the students to receive formal training titled ‘Research Methodology: Quantitative Approach’ from a government research and training institution.
(3) To familiarize the participants with the key research methods.
(4) To prepare the learners with the ability to conduct research projects and research effectively.
(5) To equip the students with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to solve problems through research in a practical setting.
The field visit includes sessions on the following topics- Basic Concept of Social Research, Research Method in Quantitative Research, Techniques of Preparation of Questionnaire and Checklist, Importance of Sampling and Sampling Techniques: Probability, Importance of Sampling and Sampling Techniques: Non-Probability, Literature Review, References, and Footnotes. The session was taken by Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Abdullah Al Hussain, and Assistant Professor Md. Robiul Islam. Finally, the program arranged data collection in the field situation with a presentation.
