Dr. Md. Mostafa Rashel, Associate Professor of Linguistics at the Department of English, has established the Center for Ethnic Minority Languages and Research (CEMLR), at DaffodilInternational University and has also achieved a prestigious Ph.D. Degree in Linguistics from the Department of Languages and Linguistics at La TrobeUniversity, Melbourne, Australia for his comprehensive research work on endangered language documentation of Bangladesh under the supervision ofEmeritus Professor David Bradley and Associate Prof. Stephen Morey (Co-supervisor). Dr. Rashel wrote a grammatical description of the Tripura(Usoi) language concentrating on Phonology, Morphology, and Syntax as his doctoral dissertation: titled ‘A Grammar of Tripura’, is the first comprehensive grammar written on the Tripura language. Presently Dr. Rashel is only the expert on endangered language documentation in Bangladesh based on the corpus of naturalistic data analysis. He also engages with various national and international indigenous language documentation and developmental education projects. His university teaching and research experience spans more than thirteen years in the field of linguistics. He has expertise in documenting endangered indigenous languages in Bangladesh based on analyzing naturalistic data corpora using linguistic software applications such as FieldLanguage Explorer (FLEX), PRAAT, Phonology Assistant, ELAN, and Toolbox. He has also worked on other endangered indigenous languages of the Chittagong Hill tracts (CHT), including Marma and Mro. He compiled three primers (Pre-PrimarySchool Textbook) devoted to six languages Santali and Sadri, Hajong and Garo, Patro, and Khasi. He has archived endangered language data with the Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures (PARADISEC) at the University of Sydney, Australia. Additionally, He has conducted workshops and seminars on language documentation at Bangladeshi universities and at the InternationalMother Language Institute (IMLI) to encourage Bangladeshi linguists to study minority languages.
