Biography

I am  an Assistant Professor at the Department of Development Studies, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). I completed my BSS and MSS degrees in from the University of Dhaka. Later, I went to the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London to get my MSc in the Political Economy of Development as a recipient of the Commonwealth Scholarship.  I joined the Department of Development Studies at Bangladesh University of Professionals in 2017. Prior to joining as an Assistant Professor, I worked as a Research Associate (RA) at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

As an academic deeply engaged in understanding the complexities of development and policy, my research interests lie at the intersection of business development, industrial growth, labor productivity enhancement, and the evolving role of technology. I focus on exploring these themes through mixed method case studies, which allow for a comprehensive examination of both qualitative processes and quantitative outcomes.

In particular, I am interested in:

Business Development: Investigating how businesses thrive under specific government interventions and public policies.Industrial Development: Exploring the factors driving industrial growth, especially in emerging economies.
Labor Productivity Enhancement: Understanding the policies and practices that improve workforce efficiency and productivity.
Technological Upgradation: Analyzing how the adoption of modern technologies enhances industry competitiveness and productivity.

Through my research, I aim to uncover insights into how policy, technology, and human capital interact to shape development outcomes. I am open to supervising students who are keen to work on real-world issues, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods to better understand the policies and practices that drive business and industrial success.
